If anyone has ever had any doubt whether or not Representative “Able” Mable Thomas can continue to live up to her name, her most recent honor of being named to the elite list of the 100 most influential Georgians for 2008 should erase any question of her capabilities. Being a part of this power list, bestowed by Georgia Trend Magazine , does not come by mediocrity. The fact that the population of the State of Georgia is over 8 million, alone reveals Representative Thomas's high credentials. To even more illustrate the significance of this honor, Representative Thomas is one of only 20 women and 23 African Americans to make the list for 2008. In receiving such a high honor (only the latest among many previous awards and recognitions), the humbleness she embodies shines through. When asked of her response to being named to this distinguished list, she replied “I am very honored to receive such a distinct recognition, and I truly feel it is a testament to the fact that ANYONE can achieve high goals by helping the common person and giving back to one's own community. |
